Job Description

Assistant Chef - Continental Cuisine

As an Assistant Chef specialising in Continental Cuisine, you will work closely with the Head Chef and the culinary team to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the kitchen. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes within the continental cuisine category. You will contribute to creating a delightful dining experience for our guests by maintaining high culinary standards and exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation: Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes within the continental cuisine, including appetizers, soups, salads, main courses, and desserts. Follow recipes and maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
  2. Culinary Support: Collaborate with the Head Chef and the culinary team in menu planning, recipe development, and creating innovative dishes. Provide input and suggestions for menu improvements, ingredient selection, and food presentation.
  3. Kitchen Operations: Ensure a clean, organised, and well-stocked kitchen. Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing ingredients. Adhere to proper food handling and safety procedures, including temperature control, labeling, and sanitation practices.
  4. Teamwork: Work cooperatively with the culinary team, coordinating tasks and maintaining effective communication. Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff. Support the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations and resolving any issues that arise.
  5. Quality Control: Monitor the quality of ingredients, taste, and presentation of dishes at all stages of preparation. Conduct regular taste tests and inspections to ensure consistency and adherence to established standards. Identify and address any deviations or concerns promptly.
  6. Guest Satisfaction: Strive to exceed guest expectations by consistently delivering high-quality dishes. Address guest feedback and special requests in a professional and timely manner. Collaborate with the front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless dining experience.
  7. Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handling of equipment, utensils, and workstations. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen, practicing good personal hygiene at all times.
