Essential criteria:
Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications, and laboratory values. Knowledge of specialty (or specialties) as appropriate.
Knowledge and adoption of best-practice medical transcription/editing/proof reading guidelines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills including grammar, spelling (Australian/UK - English) and punctuation.
Proficient in referencing, researching, reporting, tracking, and monitoring. Proficient in the use of drug indexes and online databases (including Google) for referring the clinician addresses and medical/surgical terminology.
Ability to operate word processing software (MS Word), MS Excel, dictation and transcription software and other software as specified.
Ability to work under pressure with time constraints. The ability to strictly adhere to client agreed TATs with no compromise on the quality.
Ability and desire to achieve a file accuracy rate of 98.5% and above.
The ability and desire to improve one's own quality/accuracy rate via the adoption of a continuous improvement methodology.
Ability to understand and strictly apply relevant legally enforceable concepts (e.g. client confidentiality and data security).
Recognises, interprets, and evaluates inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in medical dictation, and appropriately clarifies and/or report them.
Ability to provide quality and timely feedback to other team members (transcriptionists, editors, and supervisors).
Ability to reach the daily target of assigned lines or minutes, with the ability and desire to exceed the same.
Ability to communicate QA concerns/questions/feedback effectively within the team and to management.
Advantageous but not essential criteria:
Candidates who have hands on experience on the EMDAT transcription platform In Scribe.
Candidates who have experience in Oncology transcription.
