Inviting applications for the role of Finance Lead
Responsible for the timely and accurate production and reporting of Aspen Bermuda s balances for management, reinsurance, general accounting, and reporting purposes.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the posting of all technical-related balances for Aspen s Bermuda and other companies
Prepare the reconciliations for all technical balances to source through investigating and resolving any issues or differences
on both monthly/quarterly and year-to-date movement compared to the prior year
Reconcile intercompany technical balances and resolve any discrepancies with other group companies across Aspen Finance
Ensure continuous improvement of processes and further automation through the use of tools made available by management
Perform IBNR calculations, profit commission calculation, ULAE reserving
Prepare intercompany facilitation fee calculation and settlement journals
Prepare the journals and reconciliation for month-end close including accruals, expense and prepaid journals
Prepare analysis and commentary on a monthly and quarterly basis for budget vs actual expenses
Respond to all internal and external audit technical queries to ensure that all their requirements are addressed on time
Assist and adhere to all relevant reporting timetables
Respond to ad-hoc reports and analysis, as required
Ensure all working files adhere to Aspen s End User Compliance framework
Apply appropriate accounting principles for reporting US GAAP and UK GAAP
To act in accordance with and be an advocate for the Aspen Spirit
Assist with improvements to technical processes and system implementation
Responsible for development of your technical insurance knowledge
Undertake applicable professional, technical and career development training to include attainment of associated qualifications where required
Where applicable ensure company, market and client-related documentation is issued (internally and externally) accurately and on time
Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures and regulations
To operate as an effective team member by supporting colleagues and contributing in the delivery and achievement of the overall team and business objective
Liaise with others, support and maintain business relationships and organizational effectiveness
Undertake any other duties of a similar nature that the company reasonably requests to be performed that are within the expertise and skills of the jobholder These may be subject to periodic review and any updates and changes to be introduced after consultation with the person concerned
Qualifications we seek in you
Minimum qualifications/skills
Written and verbal communication, investigative and problem solving, self-motivation and team orientated
Microsoft packages, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel essential
Familiarity with General Ledger and manual journal entries preparation and posting
Preferred qualifications/skills
ACCA/ACA/CIMA newly qualified accountant with experience in a technical insurance accounting environment preferred
US GAAP and UK GAAP experience preferred
