 Quality Engineering Manager

Job Description

Create/Maintain a standard framework for Functional Automation and Performance Testing. Presents technical documentation for review by peers and Development community.
Recommends new tools, techniques and methodologies needed to enhance productivity and quality. Identify gaps in the quality assurance and testing processes, generate solutions, and drive continuous improvement. Lead the development of test strategies based on a project's Business Requirements document, functional requirements, design documents, user stories and user acceptance criteria.
Collaborate with SDS QE counterparts to define resourcing needs to meet QE demands of MPD. Hire, Train and manage both onshore and offshore associates. Supervise and coordinate QE personnel to provide technical and efficient service to the organization; estimate and manage resource demand. Direct staff, set operational objectives and business goals; establish and monitor performance measures. Ability to set goals, conduct performance reviews and assist in staff development; participate in hiring and training; promote succession planning; provide coaching and mentoring. Communicate application readiness, level of quality, and results to SDS QE management and project client team. Collaborate with development teams to analyze defects, determine root causes, and drive solutions to prevent recurrence. Identify delivery risks due to quality issues; collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement mitigating strategies; ensure timely escalation as needed. Implement quality standards and benchmarks; develop and track key metrics. Conduct operational quality audits to ensure compliance with best practices. Assist the automation team in designing flexible and maintainable automated test scripts to support QE.
Enable creation of robust regression test suites for re-use on identified projects.
Ability to develop and share best practices for various process improvement efforts in the QA Organization.
Skills, Knowledge or Abilities:
Understanding of business processes and general knowledge of platforms under test.
Ability to quickly grasp and understand the business domain for the applications and solutions to be tested.
Strong knowledge on Selenium and Java and Web services/API testing
Excellent understanding of object oriented design principles
Proven understanding of white box, grey box and black box testing techniques
Experience of source control systems and configuration management
Experience using SQL with regard to writing and understanding queries and procedures
In depth knowledge of Automation framework design concepts, ability to provide technical leadership.
Basic knowledge on Performance testing (any tool JMeter, LoadRunner)
Good knowledge and understanding of DevOps
Significant experience and knowledge of QE principles in defining and implementing formal testing methodologies, including risk analysis, test coverage assessment, QA metrics, etc.
Strong foundation in various software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, waterfall, Hybrid, etc.).
Significant leadership skills to effectively drive cross-functional teams in a matrixes organization.
Proven ability to work and manage work in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities; ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables.
Excellent communication skills, with desire to build an environment that cultivates innovation.
Creative technical problem solving and abstract thinking.
Good negotiation skills; willing to collaborate to find mutually acceptable solutions.
Previous experience as a campaign analyst and/or Quality Assurance Analyst and/or leadership in the Digital Marketing space.
Work Experience
12+ years of overall experience in software QA, with at least 3+ years in a direct management role servicing the QA needs.
Significant experience successfully delivering projects/results in a fast-paced IT environment.
A proven track record managing testing-related activities following any SDLC methodology.
Demonstrated success working collaboratively to drive results in a matrixes environment that requires managing multiple high priorities simultaneously, taking charge and escalating appropriately.
Extensive experience leading teams for start-to-finish and end-to-end functional testing.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in technology-related to field, including but not limited: Computer Science, Management Information Systems; or equivalent work experience
