SUMMARY

Production Services (PS) is a department inside SAP Product Engineering s Enterprise Adoption, with a presence in more than 5 countries delivering world-class software assembly & logistic services for the entire SAP and SAP supported development environments.
PS is an integral part of SAP & responsible for the entire build & release of technology topics and provides software life cycle management services - from planning to end of maintenance. In short, every byte of software must pass through PS to reach our 183,000 customers worldwide.

The mission of the ABAP Release Engineering Services team inside PS is to provide end to end release assembly, maintenance & software logistic services for all SAP products for Cloud and On-Premise, to ensure high quality according to SAP product and process standards, and to ensure delivery to our customers on time. This includes S/4 HANA, IBP, ByD, C4C, SCP, ERP Enhancements packs, SAP ABAP Add-on Products, server product SP s, custom-developed projects, RCS etc.,


Release Engineering for Cloud requires fast action across all stakeholders to meet customer demands, to ensure software with 99.999% credible quality and uptime. To enable a smooth DevOps to provide a quick response to customers, we need a smooth and seamless communication of process status across parties, anytime, anywhere.

THE ROLE

Software assembly and release services delivered are focused on improving software quality by building high-quality deployment units to ensure smooth implementation of software, thereby improving customer s TCO.

As Technical Engineer, you will

  • Be responsible for the assembly of ABAP Components of both On-Premise & Cloud, starting from the hand-over from development until the creation of software package archives and release in SAP service marketplace or Cloud Operations. You will be involved in the complete lifecycle of our products from the development phase, shipment and maintenance processes
  • Work closely together with development, quality management, release management, central infrastructure teams and validation, gaining a strong network within the organization. With a wide opportunity to collaborate worldwide complex topics require your passion for customers and people and keep your daily business exciting
  • Support our customers during complex situations by providing knowledge and support in the area of software logistics

The profile is not a developer profile and you are not expected to write code or make code changes

This role gives you additional learning & development opportunities

  • You will have first and full access to all SAP products & development which will enable understanding of complete logistic solutions at SAP
  • You will get to learn Innovation Cycle and agile methodology & tools to support development
  • While building up a new network across SAP s Product lifecycle, you will have the chance to develop analytical, change management, customer handling & professional skills
  • Further insight will enable you to understand SAP, its release, maintenance and SP stack strategy
  • Learn about typical challenges customers face today when implementing SAP software
  • Realize the impact of software qualities on landscape complexity, customer TCO & SAP s development costs.
  • Expand your knowledge & learn SAP architectural concepts and its options to be implemented and used.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Four to Eight years of relevant experience in SAP BASIS administration and System upgrades
  • Programming knowledge in ABAP, C/C++ or Java (Overview is sufficient)
  • Bachelor or master s degree in computer science or equivalent education
  • Strong analytical skills are a must, being able to structure complex problems
  • Need to have strong interpersonal and communication skills and must be experienced in working within teams and together with Release & Q-management
  • Ability to quickly develop and provide workarounds (internal and for SAP customers) and inspiring for new ideas
  • Ability to identify, address and serve customer (internal/external) needs and requirements and persistently striving for high-quality support
  • Broad understanding of SAP solutions, products and technology
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with other teams
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and develop and maintain own schedules
  • Experience in independently handling projects
