Experience in using dataflow languages such as Matlab/Simulink
Hands on experience of modelling electro-mechanical systems
Understanding of key concepts in control theory; discrete systems, feedback, stability, state space
Understanding of the principles of Newtonian physics
A working understanding of train system functions and operation, including braking, traction, coupling, computer based control, access/egress systems.
Experience analyzing requirements and developing designs that meet requirements
Knowledge of software design principles, including the use of UML
Ability to understand technical manuals and drawings
Problem solving skills
Ability to diagnose and debug software problems
Understanding of C++ programming language desirable
Experience with databases, SQL, data gathering and CAD skills desirable
Experience with configuration management and defect tracking tools
Initiative and a willingness to learn
