Job Description

We are looking for an experienced UI Architect to provide strategic and technical direction to help deliver our next-generation solutions using cloud-based technologies. We already have ambitious goals and passionate people, now we re looking for someone passionate about web UI development & ing the latest technologies, frameworks & paradigms to help us achieve our goals. You must be an excellent communicator with business partners, management, and software developers alike, displaying creativity along with strong analysis and design skills. Your peers will be the product stakeholders who outline our business priorities, and the engineering leads executing on a shared technical vision. A background in MedTech, Life Sciences, biochemistry, pharmacology, bio/cheminformatics, or similar would be a bonus.

We re looking for someone who will

• Collaborate with managers, senior leadership and business stakeholders to develop and execute the department data strategy
• Provide architectural leadership in shaping strategic, business technology projects, with a strong emphasis on contemporary web UI best practices.

• Create, design, and be the key owner of UI architecture directives & documentation: including technology roadmaps, standards, guidelines, and department best practices.
• Drive improvements to the web stack, with a focus on the digital experience for the user, as well as application performance & security to meet the needs of the business and customers, now & in the future
• Lead on technical investigations & proof of concepts, both individually and as part of a team, including being hands-on with code, to make technical recommendations
• Take a lead role in setting up new project stubs & infrastructure, in collaboration with team leads & DevOps team
• Act as a key stakeholder between Development & DevOps teams, ensure that future technology choices & designs can be deployed following the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery paradigm, and the designs have the support of DevOps teams
• Be an active stakeholder throughout the software development life cycle, overseeing the software design & ensuring the project maintains its technical direction while adjusting the technical design to mitigate unexpected blockers during the project
• Create documentation for Architecture Principles, UI design patterns & examples, technology roadmaps & future planning

You must have the following technical knowledge/skills/expertise...

• 12+ years experience in build websites & web applications
• 5+ years experience in a senior role using front-end UI technologies: HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS 3
• Highly proficient in Angular2+ or similar contemporary web framework (e.g. React or Vue)
• Strong knowledge in NodeJS, npm, yarn, webpack
• Proficient with CSS layout, including Grid/Flexbox
• Designing RESTful API endpoints, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger, HTTP protocol
• Ability to research and work independently, & working with the remote team in different time-zones

Ideally, you will have had exposure to

• Additional UI technologies & principles: Google Material, ES2015+, JQuery, CSS tools like Less or SASS
• Working knowledge of TypeScript, as well as Python and/or Java 8+, will be an advantage
• Working in Agile scrum or Kanban teams
• Working with Elastic Search or equivalent search engines
• Deploying solutions using Continuous Delivery best practices
• Developing in AWS, & experience using Lambda, EC2
• Familiarity with CDNs, such as AWS CloudFront or Akamai
• Familiarity with API Gateways, such as AWS API Gateway, Kong, Apogee
• Familiarity working with micro-frontend frameworks
• Knowledge of Data Governance policies: GDPR, HIPAA, GxP, etc, would be an advantage.
