Global Cloud Services HANA Enterprise Cloud Operations, SAP Product Engineering

GCS HEC Ops team is operating and continuously improving a consolidated platform enabling global delivery of the SAP?s HANA Enterprise Cloud (HEC) service. Team is driving collaboration and coordination across various engineering and operations teams supporting delivery of the production service, fully focusing on Service Level Objectives of service stability, recoverability, change velocity and cost control.

With SAP actively diversifying its core service delivery platforms, we are starting to build a new Azure Production Platform Operations & Engineering (PPOE) team that will be responsible for operations and continuous engineering improvements of the Microsoft Azure platform used to deliver SAP?s HANA Enterprise Cloud service.

Senior Azure Platform Engineer will effectively act as the senior technical and delivery lead of the newly chartered HEC Azure PPOE team, helping to build and enable team?s global capabilities, integrating it into HEC?s overall operating model.

The Role

As the Senior Azure Platform Engineer in GCS HEC Ops team you will:

• Help build and lead the newly chartered GCS HEC Azure PPOE team, based on principles of Site Reliability and Production Infrastructure Engineering
• Take the lead role in continuously developing and growing the HEC Azure Platform and Operations performance and delivery capabilities, through relentless focus on service reliability, service restoration, change velocity and TCO (4 core service SLO?s), in line with principles of Site Reliability Engineering
• Help setup and drive delivery of the 24x7, follow-the-sun support for the production mission critical cloud service, collaborating with a broader cloud delivery organization and owning the HEC Azure Platform operations
• Lead particularly complex and high-impact incident resolution and problem root cause analysis of the HEC?s Microsoft Azure platform, closely collaborating with other service delivery teams
• Be a role model and coach for more junior HEC Azure PPOE engineers, actively building and developing maturity and global reach of the HEC Azure PPOE team
• Develop into a thought leader and technical authority on Microsoft Azure Platform in SAP, continuously investing into broadening and deepening organization?s knowledge of the platform and related technologies, actively drive development of the SAP?s Microsoft Azure Platform Community of Practice
• Engage with Microsoft engineering and support organization to drive service uptime, restoration and continual improvements

Role Requirements

• Solid knowledge of the Microsoft Azure Platform capabilities and operations, with following certifications being a strong advantage (Azure for SAP Workload Specialty, Azure Administration Associate, Azure Solution Architect Expert, Azure DevOPS Engineer Expert, Azure Security Engineer Associate)
• Experience with SAP platform operations and understanding of the SAP S/4HANA ERP is a major advantage
• Production experience (system administration, architecture design and system deployment) across any of the hyperscalers? platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Very strong understanding of modern operations engineering principles and operating models (Site Reliability Engineering and Production Infrastructure Engineering)
• Track record of technical leadership and coaching/mentoring of junior talent
• Demonstrated drive and passion for technology and delivery of live, mission-critical, cloud-scale services
• Solid knowledge and experience with cloud-native automation and templating is a major advantage, especially hands on knowledge of ARM (JSON), Terraform, Ansible, Azure Blueprints, Azure CLI / Cloud Shell, Python
• Experience and knowledge of Azure-native management capabilities is a strong advantage (Azure Monitor, Security Center, Policy, Advisor, Log Analytics, Network Watcher etc.)
• Relentless lifelong learning mindset - readiness to invest into lifelong learning in both technology and operations domains, desire to pursue advanced technology certifications (primarily in the Microsoft Azure space)
• English fluency, German fluency is an advantage

Work Experience / Qualification

• Five plus years of relevant working experience
• University degree in Computer science or Electrical engineering or equivalent working experience
