About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join the FDLZ (Finance Data Landing Zone) Data Engineering team within the Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) organization. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining metadatadriven, scalable, highperformance data engineering frameworks that power critical financial risk processes across Corporate Treasury. In this role, you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of individual contributor engineer roles with low to moderate complexity and less experienced managers who are responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Engage with architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture to enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example, cloud readiness, application modernization and data strategy
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to make decisions and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement culture
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop, and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with low to moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
  • Collaborate and consult with the Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for technology engineering including career development and performance management for engineers and managers on the team
  • Hire, mentor and guide talent development of direct reports to build the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for the supported product areas/products

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of Leadership experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 4+ Years of Experience architecting pipelines using distributed systems patterns (shuffle optimization, spill, broadcast, storage layouts).
  • 4+ Years of Experience with streaming frameworks like Spark Structured Streaming or Apache Flink.
  • Handson with optimization techniques: clustering, Zordering, vectorized IO (Parquet/ORC), compaction.
  • Experience implementing Medallion architectures and governed ingestion zones.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and bash scripting for automation.
  • Strong experience building big data pipelines using Apache Spark, Hive, Hadoop.
  • Experience with Autosys/Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, Object Storage, Dremio, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving capabilities.
  • Solid foundation in data modeling (conceptual/logical/physical) and database design.
  • Platform DevOps
  • Cloud-native engineering experience serverless, managed Spark, event-driven architectures.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, K8s) and workflow operators.
  • Strong experience implementing test automation for data pipelines (unit, contract, integration tests).
  • Domain ExpertiseExposure to financial risk, treasury functions, or Asset Liability Management (ALM) processes.
  • Data Quality Governance
  • Knowledge of data governance platforms (Collibra, Alation, Purview).
  • Understanding of financial data controls, validation rules, reconciliation checks, and compliance (SOX/PCI).
  • Experience implementing lineage, observability, drift detection.
  • GenAI for Data Engineering
  • Applying GenAI for metadata extraction, data anomaly detection, automated documentation, or pipeline optimization.

Job Expectations:

  • Deliver high-quality engineering outcomes during Data Center exit migrations and DPC onboarding, ensuring validations, automation, and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, highperformance data solutions using Python, SQL, Spark, Iceberg, Dremio, and Autosys.
  • 4+ Years of experience in Leading a team of developers in India, work closely with the Business owners and technology leaders in UK and US and 2+ years of Leadership experience
  • Provide insights, bring ideas, and best practices into the operating model and delivery
  • Actively engage in building technology and SME skills within the team
  • Accountability and ownership for work done out of the India team that this role leads.
