SAP Data Engineer (SAP BODS & SAP BOBJ Services)
Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on SAP BI Developer with strong expertise in SAP BODS (BusinessObjects Data Services), SAP BOBJ (BusinessObjects BI Platform) and Oracle SQL to support data integration, transformation, and reporting services.
This role focuses on data pipeline development, ETL optimization, and BI service support across SAP and non-SAP systems, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and performant data delivery for reporting and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using SAP BODS and Oracle SQL Developer.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from SAP (e.g., SAPBW, ECC) and non-SAP sources
- Support and enhance SAP BOBJ reporting services, including Web Intelligence (WebI), Universe design, and Information Design Tool.
- Troubleshoot and optimize BODS jobs and BOBJ reports for performance and data accuracy
- Manage data quality, validation, and reconciliation processes
- Collaborate with business and BI teams to translate reporting requirements into technical solutions
- Monitor and support production jobs, ensuring SLA adherence and issue resolution
- Maintain documentation for data models, ETL processes, and reporting logic
- Ensure ETL processes follow data security, compliance, and governance standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering / BI development
- 5+ years of experience working with SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS) and SAP BOBJ (BusinessObjects BI Suite)
- Experience working with SAP data sources (S/4HANA, ECC, BW)
- Proven experience optimizing BODS ETL jobs and Oracle PL/SQL packages.
- Strong understanding of BODS transformations, dataflows, workflows, jobs, and functions.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or SAP HANA.
- Strong proficiency in PL/SQL and hands-on experience with Oracle packages and stored procedures.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (SCDs, fact/dimension modeling, normalization).
- Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management abilities.
