Job Description
UST is seeking a QA Engineer (Data + Automation) with strong expertise in data validation and automation testing. The ideal candidate will ensure data accuracy, integrity, and quality across complex systems and pipelines while building and maintaining robust automated testing frameworks. This role requires close collaboration with data engineers, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver high quality, reliable solutions.
Location: Trivandrum, Kochi, Chennai, Bangalore
Key Responsibilities
Data Quality & Validation
Perform data validation and reconciliation across source systems, data lakes, and downstream applications
Validate data transformations, mappings, aggregations, and business rules
Execute data comparison and data integrity checks across ETL/ELT pipelines
Identify data anomalies, root causes, and report defects with clear evidence
Test Automation
Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for data and application testing
Automate regression, data validation, and API test scenarios
Integrate automation scripts into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing
Maintain test frameworks and reusable automation components
Functional & API Testing
Perform API testing to validate request/response structures, data accuracy, and error handling
Support functional validation of applications where data is a critical component
Collaborate with development teams during defect triage and resolution
Test Planning & Execution
Create and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test data based on requirements
Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
Ensure test coverage aligns with business and compliance requirements
Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with Data Engineers, Developers, BAs, and Product Owners
Provide test execution reports, defect metrics, and quality status to stakeholders
Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Strong experience in data testing and data validation
Hands on experience with test automation tools/frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured, or equivalent)
Proficiency in SQL for complex queries, data analysis, and validation
Experience in API testing using tools such as Postman or automation frameworks
Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses, and data pipelines
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Analytical Skills
Strong problem solving and data analysis capabilities
Ability to work with large, complex datasets
High attention to detail and data accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Python, Java, or similar scripting languages for automation
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud data services
Experience in healthcare, BFSI, or other regulated domains is a plus
Knowledge of performance or data volume testing is an added advantage
