Job Description
What does a great Mainframe Batch Operations, Professional do?
Mainframe Batch Operation is responsible for ServiceDelivery of all batch processing and file transmissions. This includes moneymovement and critical SLA's to and from merchants, banks, clients, associations and the Fed.Mainframe Batch Operations is the first to address the incident, if furtherassistance is needed, then involve the appropriate Support group/s.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and support batch on large Mainframe /Distributed environment.
- Execute / support IPLs, system maintenance activities and planned/unplanned outage recoveries.
- Analyze JCL, perform job restarts, resolve abends and troubleshoot batch failures and performance bottlenecks.
What you will need to have:
- Strong communication, analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering.
- 35 years of experience in data processing operations within IBM MVS/OS390/zOS environments.
- Solid understanding of IBM console operations, including WTOR/WTO messages, system and resource shortages, dump handling, DASD/tape operations and know IPL and system upgrade.
- Proven ability to manage and control batch processing and JES operations, including service class changes, initiator management, JES queues, job restarts, JCL analysis, basic abend resolution, workload coordination across mainframe and distributed environments.
- Handson knowledge of transmission tools such NDM for Z/os
- Experience with batch scheduling tools like CA7 and ControlM.
- Ability to identify and resolve batch processing bottlenecks and troubleshoot basic abends.
- No Night Shift
- Good interpersonal skills.
What would be great to have:
- Knowledge of ticketing tools like ServiceNow.
- Sound knowledge and practical approach towards ITIL concepts, especially, Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with next level teams and clients, solving major issues
