Kitchen StewardJob Description for Steward ( Washing Utensils, cleaning)The Service Steward plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of food and beverage service in the hospitality or restaurant industry.
This position involvesproviding excellent support to waitstaff, maintaining cleanliness in dining and service areas,and ensuring that guests receive an exceptional dining experience. The Service Steward isexpected to assist in a variety of tasks to support the dining team, while upholding highstandards of cleanliness, safety, and organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Guest Service Support:o Assist waitstaff in delivering food and beverages to guests promptly andaccurately.o Refill water glasses, replenish condiments, and ensure that guests needs aremet in a timely manner.o Clear and reset tables between courses or after guests have finished, ensuring aclean and pleasant dining environment.
2. Dining Area Maintenance:o Maintain cleanliness and organization in all dining and service areas,including wiping down tables, chairs, and floors.o Ensure that dining areas are fully stocked with clean tableware, napkins, andcondiments.o Ensure all areas are sanitized according to health and safety regulations,including bathrooms and high-touch surfaces.
3. Assistance to Kitchen and Front-of-House Staff:o Assist kitchen staff in organizing, plating, and preparing food for service.o Help organize and transport food and beverages from the kitchen to the diningarea, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.o Coordinate with waitstaff to fulfill special requests or dietary requirements ofguests.
4. Inventory and Equipment Management:o Monitor and manage the cleanliness and organization of all service equipment,including glassware, silverware, and serving trays.o Report any issues with service equipment or inventory shortages tomanagement or the appropriate department.o Assist in receiving and storing inventory items such as napkins, linens, andcleaning supplies.
5. Health, Safety, and Sanitation Compliance:o Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain high standards ofcleanliness in both the front-of-house and back-of-house areas.o Ensure all service tools and equipment are kept in proper working conditionand are regularly sanitized.o Comply with all health and safety regulations as mandated by local laws andindustry standards

Customer Service:o Assist in providing excellent customer service by promptly addressing guestrequests and offering assistance when needed.o Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times, contributing to apositive dining experience for guests.o Address guest complaints or concerns regarding service or cleanliness andreport them to management as appropriate.
7. Teamwork and Communication:o Work effectively as part of the service team, collaborating with waitstaff,kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth service.o Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure guest requestsand needs are met quickly and efficiently.o Support other team members in maintaining an organized and efficient serviceflow during peak hours
.Qualifications:
Previous experience in the food and beverage industry or a similar hospitality role ispreferred.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards is a plus.
