QA Automation SDET - Senior Engineer Job Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Support and enhance test automation frameworks for functional, integration, and regression testing
• Write reusable, maintainable, and scalable automated test scripts
• Collaborate with QA teams to transition manual test cases into automated tests
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Perform code reviews with a focus on testability and quality
• Debug and resolve issues identified through automated and manual testing
• Participate in requirement analysis to identify automation opportunities early
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality benchmarks

• Strong hands-on experience with Java
• Solid experience in Spring Boot (REST APIs, Microservices)
• Exposure to test automation tools/frameworks such as: Selenium / Playwright / Cypress (any one or more)
• TestNG / JUnit
• Experience with API automation (e.g., RestAssured or equivalent)
• Understanding of automation test design patterns and best practices
• Familiarity with Git, Maven/Gradle, and build pipelines
• Basic understanding of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.)
• Good debugging and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Good to Have
• Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow, etc.)
• Exposure to performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling)
• Experience in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
• Prior experience in shift-left testing or test strategy discussions
