Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation:o Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, such as washing, peeling,chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients.o Prepare simple dishes or components of a dish under the supervision of seniorkitchen staff.o Follow recipes and instructions given by the chef to ensure consistency andquality of dishes.o Ensure all food items are prepared according to safety and sanitationstandards.
2. Cooking and Plating:o Assist in cooking, frying, grilling, and other cooking techniques as directed bychefs or senior cooks.o Plate and garnish dishes according to presentation guidelines and restaurantstandards.o Monitor the quality of food being prepared, ensuring that all dishes meet therestaurant's quality and taste standards.
3. Kitchen Organization and Cleanliness:o Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including cleaningworkstations, utensils, and equipment after use.o Ensure that all kitchen tools and equipment are properly sanitized and in goodworking condition.o Store food ingredients and supplies in the proper manner to avoidcontamination and maintain freshness.o Adhere to health and safety regulations in the kitchen, such as properhandling, storage, and disposal of food.
4. Stock Management:o Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper inventorymanagement.o Monitor stock levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies and report anyshortages to the supervisor.o Ensure food items are properly rotated to prevent spoilage or waste.
5. Assisting Senior Kitchen Staff:o Assist chefs and other kitchen staff with more complex tasks as needed.o Take direction from senior cooks and follow instructions to complete prepwork or assist in meal service.o Support the kitchen team during busy periods by ensuring dishes are preparedin a timely manner.6. Health and Safety Compliance:o Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean, hygienickitchen environment.o Keep all kitchen areas and equipment sanitized and organized.o Handle food items safely, following proper hygiene practices, and adhere tolocal food safety standards.
7. Learning and Development:o Take the initiative to learn new cooking techniques, food preparation methods,and kitchen operations.o Attend training sessions or workshops as required to improve culinary skillsand knowledge.o Develop an understanding of kitchen workflows, food presentation, andplating techniques
.Qualifications:
Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is beneficial but notrequired.
