Job Description
- Review loan files for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to established underwriting guidelines.
- Verify loan application information against all supporting documents within the loan file.
- Analyze credit documentation including mortgage applications, credit reports, income and asset documents, title reports, appraisals, and all applicable compliance disclosures.
- Ensure loan applications meet investor and secondary market requirements, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and applicable government agency guidelines.
- Perform accurate income calculations in line with underwriting and program standards.
- Evaluate loan-to-value (LTV) and combined loan-to-value (CLTV) ratios.
- Review borrower and property eligibility based on program, risk, and regulatory requirements.
- Assess debt-to-income ratios, credit scores, property valuations, and overall creditworthiness.
- Identify potential risk factors, fraud indicators, and misrepresentation within loan documentation.
- Condition loan files by requesting missing, incomplete, or additional supporting documentation.
- Participate in testing system updates, enhancements, and process changes as required.
- Complete all mandatory trainings, certifications, and assessments within defined timelines.
- Ensure secure and confidential handling of sensitive customer and financial data.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage underwriting guidelines and credit analysis.
- Handson experience with income calculation and ratio analysis.
- Analytical skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to identify risk trends and fraud red flags.
- Working knowledge of LTV, CLTV, DTI, and credit scoring methodologies.
- Familiarity with investor and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Bachelors degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- 15 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, credit analysis, or loan review.
- Experience working with secondary market guidelines (Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac) is required.
- Proficiency in mortgage loan origination and underwriting systems is an advantage.
