JOB OVERVIEW
The Consultant - Rheumatologist will be responsible for the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of diseases affecting the joints, muscles, and bones. This role requires a high degree of clinical expertise in managing systemic autoimmune diseases (like Lupus or Vasculitis) and providing long-term care for chronic inflammatory conditions.
JOB SPECIFICATION (JS)
- MBBS from a recognized medical college.
- Super-Specialty: DM or DNB in Rheumatology is (Mandatory).
- Fresher to 5+ years of post-super-specialty experience.(Open to fresh DM/DNB graduates with strong clinical acumen).
- Registration: Valid registration with the Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC).
- Employment Type: Full-Time / Part Time
- Preference: Candidates with experience in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound for diagnostic purposes and guided injections.
JOB DESCRIPTION (JD)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clinical Evaluation:Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of rheumatic diseases, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Gout, and Osteoarthritis.
- Autoimmune Management: Provide specialized care for complex multi-system autoimmune disorders such as SLE (Lupus), Scleroderma, Myositis, and Sarcoidosis.
- Biologic & DMARD Therapy:Prescribe and monitor advanced therapies, including Disease-Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs (DMARDs) and Biologics (Infusions/Injections).
- Interventional Procedures: Perform diagnostic and therapeutic joint aspirations and soft tissue/intra-articular injections.
- Cross-Specialty Consultation: Provide expert opinions for patients admitted under other departments (e.g. Nephrology for Lupus Nephritis or Pulmonology for Interstitial Lung Disease).
- Laboratory & Imaging Correlation: Interpret specialized immunological tests (ANA patterns, RF, Anti-CCP) and imaging (MSK Ultrasound, MRI, DEXA scans).
- Patient Counseling: Educate patients on the nature of chronic autoimmune diseases, medication side effects, and lifestyle modifications to prevent disability.
- Diagnostic Precision: Ability to spot early signs of systemic disease that may mimic other conditions.
- Empathy: High level of patience and compassion for patients dealing with lifelong,painful chronic conditions.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to correlate laboratory data with clinical presentations.
- Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with Orthopaedic, Physiotherapists, and Radiologists.
- Adhere to strict antibiotic stewardship and prescription protocols.
