Role-Turnaround Work Pack Engineer-Electrical

Location- Bangalore


Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Work Request Evaluation & Scope Definition

  • Screen and review electrical TAR notifications and work orders.
  • Validate and clarify job scope with operations, maintenance, and requestors.
  • Conduct field/site surveys to verify asset conditions, access, constraints, and isolation requirements.
  • Identify and eliminate obsolete or duplicate scope.
  • Support scope finalization, late scope management, and change control processes.

Work Pack Preparation

  • Develop comprehensive electrical execution packs in alignment with TAR readiness gates and client procedures.
  • Work packs must include:
  • Job method statements (step-by-step procedures).
  • Material Take-Off (MTO), tools, and equipment list.
  • P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), loop drawings, cable layouts.
  • Isolation plans (electrical, process, mechanical).
  • QA/QC hold and witness points.
  • Testing protocols (IR, continuity, loop checks, functional testing).
  • Safety, rigging, scaffolding, and lifting plans where required.
  • Ensure SAP/CMMS is updated with correct task steps, duration, resource codes, and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with clients Work Pack Preparation Procedures.
  • Update SAP/CMMS with relevant details (tasks, resources, durations, equipment codes).
  • If identified react to change in scope, inform necessary parties and complete the necessary change management documentation.

Material, Tools & Spare Parts Planning

  • Identify required materials and consumables (e.g., cables, glands, terminations, MCC parts).
  • Use BOMs, OEM manuals, and field verification to validate materials.
  • Confirm Required on Site (ROS) dates and coordinate with SCM.
  • Track availability of critical materials (e.g., junction boxes, light fixtures, control panels, relays, circuit breakers, etc.).

HSE & Risk Assessment

  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA), incorporating HAZOP, HAZID, and site-specific risks.
  • Address key electrical hazards.
  • Ensure supporting documentation is in place (PTW, isolation certificates, energy control procedures)
  • Comply with all TAR-specific HSE requirements.

Vendor, Resource & Contractor Coordination

  • Identify and coordinate with specialist electrical vendors & contractors.
  • Confirm the availability of third-party QA/QC and test equipment.
  • Confirm contractor readiness (workforce, supervision, permits, mobilization plan).
  • Support contractor onboarding and briefing sessions.

Schedule Integration & Execution Support

  • Align work packs with TAR schedule using Primavera (P6).
  • Identify critical path and high-risk jobs for early execution planning.
  • Support batching, area/system-based work packaging, and logical sequencing.
  • Provide field support during execution and closeout activities.

Quality, Data & Change Management

  • Document lessons learned for repetitive jobs to improve next TAR.
  • Support audits, incident investigations and post-TAR evaluation.

Work Experience

Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or equivalent

Minimum 8 years of experience in oil and gas (onshore/offshore), with solid exposure to plant maintenance, turnaround, and reliability engineering

Relevant Experience Required:

  • Demonstrated experience in preparing work packs for electrical equipment in turnaround environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in live plant environments, and managing multi-disciplined work scopes.
  • Proficient in SAP-PM, MS Office, Primavera P6 and turnaround planning tools.
  • Conversant with SAP-PM, Primavera P6, MS Office, and industry CMMS tools.

Technical:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems: switchgear, motors, MCCs, transformers, motors, generators, PMC, lighting, UPS, and earthing.
  • Familiar with IEC, IEEE, NEC, and ATEX standards.

Planning & Execution:

  • Good understanding of TAR workflows, job bundling, and constraints management.
  • Ability to develop multi-discipline execution plans (electrical, scaffolding, access, etc.).

Safety & Compliance:

  • Strong HSE mindset with experience in electrical isolation, LV/HV safety protocols, etc.
  • Familiarity with permit to work systems and energy control procedures.

Communication & Teamwork:

  • Effective communicator with strong technical writing and documentation skills.

Self-motivated with strong organizational and follow-through capabilities.
