Job Description
Role Summary
The Power BI Developer is responsible for enabling datadriven decisionmaking by designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver clear, actionable insights. This role involves translating reporting requirements into effective analytical solutions, ensuring data accuracy and availability, and collaborating with business stakeholders, data teams, and senior BI professionals to support consistent, highquality reporting outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
- Build and manage data models (star schema, relationships, measures) to support accurate and performant reporting.
- Create and maintain DAX measures and calculated columns aligned with defined KPIs.
- Use Power Query (M) for data transformation and preparation.
- Connect Power BI to multiple data sources (SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, cloud sources).
- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and follow workspace access and governance standards.
- Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Perform data validation, testing, and basic performance tuning.
- Document reports, datasets, and metric definitions for reuse and support.
- Support production reports and address data or visualization issues as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3-7 years of experience in BI / analytics development.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Power BI Desktop & Service
- DAX (intermediate to advanced)
- Power Query (M)
- SQL (joins, aggregations, basic performance tuning)
- Solid understanding of data modeling and reporting best practices.
- Ability to work with business users and clarify reporting requirements.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- A bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics/Mathematics, or Business Analytics/MIS
- Power BI / Data Analytics certifications
- Exposure to Azure data services (Azure SQL, Data Factory, Synapse).
- Familiarity with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).
- Experience working in Agile / project-based environments.
- Prior experience supporting enterprise or shared reporting solutions.
Working Hours
Ability and willingness to work regularly during Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours to support global stakeholders and portfolio activities.
