    Job Description Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

    We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who thrives on solving complex problems, loves automation, and enjoys building systems from the ground up. This role offers a unique blend of responsibilities:

    • 20% Technical Operations: Supporting the upgrade of our Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 systems.
    • 80% Greenfield Development: Designing and building a critical internal tool to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    80% New Tool Development

    • Design, develop, and implement a new internal tool using modern development practices.
    • Build robust and scalable APIs for seamless integration with existing systems.
    • Integrate the tool with internal and external services through API interactions.
    • Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable Python code.
    • Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality, efficient solutions.
    • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

    20% Technical Operations (RHEL 9 Upgrade Support)

    • Collaborate with the operations team to plan, test, and execute RHEL 9 upgrades across infrastructure.
    • Identify and resolve compatibility issues, performance bottlenecks, and operational challenges.
    • Develop automation scripts to streamline deployment and configuration.
    • Monitor system health and performance post-upgrade, proactively addressing issues.

     

    Required Skills & Experience

    • Linux Expertise: Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Linux OS, especially Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
    • Python Development: Proven expertise in backend development, scripting, and automation.
    • API & REST Development: Strong experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
    • Integration Skills: Ability to build robust APIs and integrate with internal and third-party systems.
    • CI/CD & Release Management: Practical experience with pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and release best practices.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently when needed.

    Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

    • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
    • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Spinnaker, Jenkins).
    • Knowledge of cloud platforms ( AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • Experience with containerization ( Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Understanding of observability tools ( Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
    • Prior experience in an SRE or DevOps role.
