Job Description
Senior Denodo Developer SME Experienced Senior Denodo Developer Subject Matter Expert SME to design, develop, and govern enterprise-scale data virtualization solutions using Denodo. The ideal candidate to bring deep technical expertise, strong data architecture knowledge, and a consulting mindset to enable trusted, high-performance data access across the organization. This role requires close collaboration with data platform teams, DBAs, security, architecture, and business stakeholders, and will guide teams on best practices, limitations, and optimal usage of Denodo in a business context, with leadership and mentoring responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Business Understanding Analytics Engage with business stakeholders to understand data consumption needs and analytical use cases Translate business requirements into Denodo logical and physical data models Perform data analysis to assess source system structure, data quality, and availability Ensure compliance with Business regulations, audit, lineage, and data governance standards. Enable self-service analytics and BI by delivering curated, business-friendly data views Define and track KPIs related to data performance, reliability, and usage Communicate data limitations, performance considerations, and best practices to stakeholders Development Design and develop Denodo virtual databases, views, and services Implement complex joins, aggregations, derived views, and reusable data services Optimize queries using caching, indexing, query hints, and cost-based optimization Develop REST and SOAP web services using Denodo Integrate Denodo with BI tools, analytics platforms, and downstream applications Implement CICD and version control practices for Denodo artifacts Troubleshoot and resolve performance, connectivity, and data issues Own end-to-end Denodo platform and operations VDP, Scheduler, Monitor, Solution Manager. Define and govern BaseViews DerivedViews InterfaceViews layering, ensuring Denodo is used strictly as a data access and abstraction layer. Lead Denodo development with strong focus on SQL optimization, push-down, caching, and performance tuning. Design and manage cache strategies, SLAs, capacity, HADR, and platform scalability. Implement security, RBAC, rowcolumn controls, masking, and integrate with LDAPADIAM. Act as L3L4 escalation owner for production issues, RCA, upgrades, and platform lifecycle. Work closely with DB, data engineering, BI, and infrastructure teams to offload heavy transformations to source systems. Support in integration of enterprise reporting tools with secure and performant Denodo access. Operate as a platform owner and SME, mentoring teams and enforcing clear Denodo usage guardrails. Modelling Design and manage Denodo logical data models and semantic layers Implement best practices for view layering base, derived, and presentation views Apply data modelling concepts including dimensional, relational, and canonical models Define metadata, business definitions, and data lineage Ensure consistency, reusability, and scalability of virtual data models Collaborate with data architects on enterprise data standards Data Platform Tool Stack Core Platform o Denodo Platform o Denodo Virtual DataPort VDP o Denodo Scheduler Data Catalog Data Sources Integration o Relational databases Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL o Cloud data platforms Azure Synapse o File-based sources CSV, Parquet, JSON, XML o APIs, web services, and message-based integrations Development Analytics Tools o SQL advanced proficiency o Denodo Design Studio Solution Manager o BI tools: Power BI, Qlik o REST clients Postman, Swagger DevOps, Security Monitoring o Version control using Git o CICD integration o Authentication authorization using LDAP SSO OAuth o Performance monitoring, query profiling, and usage analytics Consulting Stakeholder Management Act as a trusted advisor for enterprise data virtualization and Denodo adoption Lead requirement discovery sessions, design workshops, and solution walkthroughs Guide stakeholders on data access patterns, semantic modelling, and performance trade-offs Collaborate with data governance, security, and compliance teams Support architecture reviews, pre-sales discussions, and solution proposals when required Influence data strategy decisions and promote virtualization best practices Leadership Mentoring Serve as Denodo SME and escalation point for complex technical issues Mentor junior developers and data engineers on Denodo best practices Lead design and code reviews for Denodo implementations Define standards, reusable frameworks, and governance guidelines Support onboarding, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives Contribute to Denodo roadmap planning and capability maturity Soft Skills Strong communication presentation skills Business-first mindset Problem-solving analytical thinking Ability to work independently and lead initiatives Nice to Have Experience with large-scale enterprise or regulated environments Exposure to cloud-native data platforms and modern analytics architectures Strong documentation, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills Experience working in consulting or system integrator environments Experience working in consulting, client-facing, or large enterprise environments
