Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineers (Process / Rotary / Static / Piping)
Location: Pune
Industry: Industrial EPC Power, Steel, Chemical, Heavy Engineering
Experience: 3 to 20 Years
Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering
Role Summary
We are strengthening our inhouse design team and hiring technical specialists across Process, Rotary, Static & Piping engineering. The role involves preparation, verification and delivery of engineering design calculations, equipment specifications, 3D models, and engineering deliverables for mega industrial EPC projects.
Technical Responsibilities
Process Engineering
- Development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Preparation of mass & heat balance, equipment sizing, and hydraulic calculations
- Design of pumps, heat exchangers, blowers, compressors (capacity, power, NPSH, duty conditions)
- Line sizing, pressure drop calculations, and utility consumption estimation
- Knowledge of HTRI / Aspen / AFT Fathom or equivalent tools
Rotary Equipment Design
- Design & specification of rotary equipment:
Pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, agitators, rotary feeders - Review of GA drawings, performance curves, mechanical seal plans, and bearing arrangements
- Familiarity with API 610 / 617 / 618 / 619
- Vendor document review and mechanical data sheet finalization
Static Equipment Design
- Design & analysis of:
Pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, reactors, storage tanks - Development of mechanical design calculations as per:
ASME Sec VIII Div.1/2, TEMA, API 650/620 - Proficiency in PV Elite / COMPRESS
- Review of fabrication drawings, shell thickness, nozzle loads, wind/seismic calculations
Piping Engineering
- Preparation of 3D models, Isometrics, GA drawings, support engineering
- Pipe sizing, hydraulic calculations, stress analysis inputs
- Sound knowledge of ASME B31.1 / B31.3, valve selection, material specifications
- Exposure to CAESAR II, SmartPlant 3D, E3D, AutoPIPE (advantageous)
- Review of MTOs, PMS, valve datasheets & layout engineering
Technical Skills Required
- Strong command over applicable engineering codes:
ASME, API, ASTM, BIS, TEMA, OISD, ISO - Handson expertise in design software:
AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PV Elite, Caesar II, HTRI, AFT Fathom, SmartPlant / E3D - Ability to interpret vendor drawings, OEM catalogues & engineering standards
- High accuracy in design calculations, datasheets, material selection
- Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, NDT and construction interfaces
- Competence in preparing TBE (Technical Bid Evaluations)
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory)
- 320+ years in industrial design engineering for EPC projects
- Ability to lead design packages independently (for senior roles)
- Strong analytical skills & engineering judgement
- Qualityfocused with commitment to meeting design deadlines
