Job Description
Role Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled Power BI professional who can design, build, and implement end-to-end dashboards that translate business questions into clear, actionable insights.
This role requires more than technical proficiency - the ideal candidate should be excellent at understanding business requirements, structuring them into robust data models, and delivering sustainable, scalable BI solutions. A strong communication is a must.
Business users may not always articulate system-level or design-level requirements clearly. The resource must bridge the gap between Ask and Final solution
Key Responsibilities
- Business Understanding & Requirement Translation
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, KPIs, and decision drivers.
- Translate business requirements into well-structured BI solutions.
- Challenge assumptions, ask the right questions, and propose better data and visualization approaches where needed.
- Document business logic, assumptions, and metrics clearly.
- Power BI Dashboard Design & Development
- Design and develop interactive, user-friendly, and performance-optimized dashboards using Power BI.
- Build strong semantic models with reusable measures and standardized KPIs.
- Create dashboards that are intuitive for non-technical business users.
- Apply best practices in layout, storytelling, drill-downs, filters, and navigation.
Data Modeling & DAX
- Design efficient data models (star/snowflake schemas where appropriate).
- Write optimized and maintainable DAX measures for complex calculations.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and performance of calculations across reports.
- Handle incremental refresh, large datasets, and performance tuning.
Data Integration & Transformation
- Connect Power BI to multiple data sources (databases, Excel, CSVs, APIs, etc.).
- Use Power Query (M) for data cleaning, transformation, and shaping.
- Ensure data quality, reconciliation, and consistency across sources.
Deployment, Governance & Maintenance
- Manage Power BI Service workspaces, datasets, refresh schedules, and access controls.
- Implement row-level security (RLS) where required.
- Ensure dashboards are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with governance standards.
- Provide ongoing support, enhancements, and performance improvements.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with business teams, data teams, and IT as required.
- Explain dashboards, metrics, and logic in simple, business-friendly language.
- Train users on dashboard usage and interpretation where needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- Must-Have
- Proven hands-on expertise in Power BI (Power BI Desktop + Power BI Service) list all projects undertaken and deployed
- Minimum experience of least 5+ years as a stand-alone contributor on Power BI solution; over all experience of 9+ years
- Strong experience in data modeling and DAX.
- Strong command of Power Query / M language.
- Experience building dashboards from scratch, not just modifying existing ones.
- Ability to handle poorly defined requirements and convert them into structured solutions.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with non-technical stakeholders.
- Good to Have
- Experience working with large datasets and performance optimization.
- Exposure to SQL and relational databases.
- Understanding of BI best practices, KPI frameworks, and reporting governance.
- Prior experience in consulting, analytics, or business-facing BI roles.
- Experience in operational, or management reporting is a plus.

- Minimal rework due to clear requirement understanding upfront.

- Clean, documented, and maintainable Power BI assets.
