You will be an integral part of the Global Technology Platforms (GTP) team at IDC, where you will play a key role in building, enhancing, and maintaining platforms that empower Walmart s developer community. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing new features, ensuring platform reliability, and driving product stability to meet the evolving needs of our engineers. By focusing on scalability, performance, and intuitive user experiences, you will directly contribute to improving developer productivity and efficiency. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless solutions, proactively resolve issues, and continuously optimize workflows. Ultimately, your work will have a direct impact on shaping the productivity tools and developer experience at Walmart, enabling thousands of engineers to innovate faster and deliver high-quality solutions to millions of customers.
What You ll Do:
We are looking for a highly skilled Software Engineer III with strong expertise in Java-based backend development and modern full-stack technologies. The ideal candidate has solid programming fundamentals, deep experience with Spring Boot, working knowledge of React, and a strong understanding of CI/CD internals, system troubleshooting, and scalable software design. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, reliable applications in a fast-paced environment.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, high-quality software solutions using Java and Spring Boot
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services with a focus on performance, security, and reliability
- Develop and maintain frontend components using React and modern JavaScript frameworks
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver business-critical features
- Contribute to system design discussions and make informed technical decisions
- Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines, ensuring smooth build, test, and deployment processes
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best engineering practices
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers
- Continuously improve system observability, reliability, and performance
What You ll bring:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong proficiency in Java with excellent programming fundamentals (OOP, data structures, algorithms, concurrency)
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and REST APIs
- Working knowledge of React, HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and internals (build pipelines, artifact management, automated testing, deployments)
- Experience troubleshooting complex systems in production environments
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with Git-based version control and Agile/Scrum methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing)
- Exposure to performance tuning and scalability optimization
- Prior experience working in large-scale enterprise systems
