Mainframe Developer (10+ Years)

Role Overview:
Responsible for supporting and enhancing mainframe applications during and after the DB2 upgrade project. The developer will ensure that all application components interacting with DB2 are compatible with the upgraded environment and optimized for performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and modify existing COBOL, PL/I, and JCL programs to ensure compatibility with the upgraded DB2 version.
• Collaborate with DB2 support and upgrade teams to understand changes impacting application logic and data access.
• Test and validate batch jobs and online transactions in the upgraded DB2 environment.
• Identify and resolve performance issues related to DB2 changes.
• Support impact analysis for application changes due to DB2 upgrade.
• Work closely with QA teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage of DB2-related functionalities.
• Document changes and provide knowledge transfer to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior developers on DB2 upgrade implications on mainframe applications.

Required Skills:

• Strong experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2 on mainframe.
• Deep understanding of DB2 SQL, database structures, and data access methods.
• Experience with mainframe batch and transaction processing.
• Familiarity with DB2 upgrade processes and impact on applications.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
