Quality Head Hydraulic Solenoid Valves
Role Purpose
The Quality Head is responsible for leading and managing end-to-end manufacturing
operations for hydraulic solenoid valves, ensuring safe, efficient, and zero-defect
production. The role drives operational excellence, quality compliance, cost control, on
time delivery, and continuous improvement while meeting customer, regulatory, and internal
performance benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day production operations for machining, assembly, testing, and dispatch
of hydraulic solenoid valves.
Ensure adherence to production plans, takt time, and delivery schedules.
Optimize manpower, machines, and materials to achieve productivity and efficiency
targets.
Ensure smooth coordination between production, quality, maintenance, stores, and
planning teams.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality systems in production
operations.
Enforce process discipline, SOPs, work instructions, and control plans on the shop
floor.
Drive zero-defect manufacturing and first-time-right production.
Support internal, customer, and third-party audits and ensure timely closure of
findings.
Ensure documentation control for SOPs, work instructions, and quality records.
Ensure inspection and quality standards for:
o Machined valve bodies and spools
o Solenoid coils and electrical components
o Surface-treated and heat-treated parts Monitor in-process controls and final testing including pressure, leakage, response
time, and electrical tests.
Ensure implementation of sampling plans and acceptance criteria.
Drive implementation of SPC, MSA, Cp/Cpk, and process capability improvements.
Reduce scrap, rework, and rejection costs through root cause analysis and
corrective actions.
Implement Poka-Yoke / mistake-proofing solutions.
Support Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma initiatives.
Improve OEE, cycle time, and line balancing.
Support new product and process introduction through:
o DFMEA & PFMEA
o Control Plans
o PPAP documentation
Ensure manufacturing and quality readiness before SOP (Start of Production).
Work closely with Design, Quality, and Industrial Engineering teams during
development and ramp-up.
Coordinate with Quality for supplier quality performance and improvement.
Ensure quality compliance of outsourced processes such as plating, heat treatment,
coil winding, etc.
Support supplier audits, PPAP approvals, and closure of supplier non-conformances.
Ensure availability, reliability, and proper utilization of production and testing
equipment.
Support maintenance for breakdown reduction and preventive maintenance.
Ensure calibration and traceability of measuring and testing instruments.
Oversee testing facilities for:
o Pressure & leakage testing
o Endurance & life cycle testing
o Electrical & insulation testing
o Environmental testing (temperature, dust, moisture)8. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop production supervisors, engineers, and operators.
Conduct regular training on process discipline, quality tools, safety, and best
practices.
Foster a strong culture of quality ownership, accountability, and continuous
improvement.
Drive safety, housekeeping (5S), and employee engagement on the shop floor.
Technical Skills & Expertise
Strong Knowledge of:
Hydraulic solenoid valves and testing methods
Precision machining and assembly processes
GD&T and drawing interpretation
Hands-on Experience With:
ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
APQP, PPAP, FMEA
SPC, MSA
Familiarity With:
CNC machining centers
Surface coatings and heat treatment
ERP / QMS software
Preferred Industry Background
Hydraulic valves / cartridge valves
Automotive or mobile hydraulics
Industrial automation and fluid power components
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (or equivalent)
10-15 years of experience in hydraulic or precision component manufacturing
Minimum 5+ years in a senior production leadership role
