Your Impact
Drive innovation in product content with AI! The Cisco Technical Communications group is looking for Technical Writers to lead the charge in using AI-powered tools to develop content for cutting-edge networking products. As a senior technical writer at Cisco, you will leverage your expertise to make complex product concepts, workflows, and tasks easily comprehensible and appealing to diverse audiences. If you're a tech-savvy individual with the creativity to harness AI tools to communicate complex concepts clearly, this is your opportunity to advance your technical writing career with Cisco and shape the future of technical communication. In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Use in-house AI tools to make complex product concepts, workflows, and tasks easily comprehensible and appealing to diverse audiences from end users to network administrators to developers.
- Drive a unified content strategy. Establish standardized release processes, content development best practices, and delivery and feedback mechanisms in the team.
- Serve as the voice of the user, using AI-driven content analytics to provide valuable feedback to engineering, product management, and technical marketing teams.
- Identify the significantly complex information needs of target audiences, develop appropriate content plans, and manage the execution of those plans.
- Perform resource workload assessment and balancing across projects.
- Create high-quality technical content for complex product and solution deployment needs.
- Take on special projects/stretch assignments outside the scope of regular tasks.
- Contribute actively to integrating the latest Gen AI use cases in existing and new content workflows.
- Demonstrate proven ability in team building and the mentoring of junior writers.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have 3 to 8 years of experience in technical writing and demonstrate the following essential qualifications:
- Exceptional writing skills and an in-depth understanding of technical writing principles.
- Solid understanding of Generative AI principles and their practical application in prompt engineering, model evaluation, and ethical considerations for content creation.
- Strong technical aptitude to comprehend and simplify complex networking technologies, with a proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new advancements.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will also possess these highly desirable skills and experiences:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, leveraging data and AI-driven insights to proactively address content gaps.
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills, with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster innovation.
- Proficiency in content structures, CMS, source management, and governance to implement effective content strategies.
- Familiarity with structured authoring environments (e.g., DITA, XML).

Additional constraints
- Aeronautical engineering background - NO
- Experience in Networking domain needed
- Exposure to GenAI is a plus
Primary skills and responsibilities below :
- Good language skills both written and oral.
- Technical Writer with conceptual knowledge of networking concepts; working experience in the networking domain would be an advantage.
- Technical Writer with conceptual knowledge of GenAI and prompt engineering; experience of creating AI ready content for building GenAI tools would be highly appreciated.
- Experience in structured authoring would be an advantage.
- Max 45 days notice period
- Avoid any Aeronautical Engineering candidate unless that candidate fulfils all the above criteria convincingly or the candidate has worked for Cisco.
- Candidate should come prepared based on the JD shared with them Writing AI-ready content for the networking domain
