Position: Deputy General Manager Contracts, Risk & Dispute Management

Role Purpose
The Deputy General Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership in contract management, risk management, claims, disputes, arbitration, and contract drafting across projects and regions. The role ensures contractual compliance, proactive risk mitigation, effective dispute resolution, and protection of the organizations commercial interests throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contract Management & Drafting
- Lead and oversee contract administration from preaward to postaward stages.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize EPC contracts, subcontracts, JV/MOU agreements, and amendments.
- Advise project and regional teams on contractual rights, obligations, interpretations, and compliance.
- Guide adoption of appropriate standard contract forms (e.g., FIDIC or bespoke contracts) based on project requirements.
2. Risk Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust contractual and enterprise risk management framework.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual, commercial, and project risks.
- Guide regions on preparation and maintenance of risk registers and risk mitigation plans.
- Participate in seniorlevel risk review forums and support informed decisionmaking.
3. Claims & Dispute Management
- Lead the development, review, and submission of variation claims, extension of time (EOT) claims, and financial claims.
- Mentor regional teams on delay analysis, claim substantiation, and preparation of claim documentation.
- Proactively identify potential disputes and formulate strategies to prevent escalation.
4. Arbitration & Legal Coordination
- Oversee contractual aspects of arbitration, litigation, and NCLT matters in coordination with legal counsel.
- Review and advise on Statements of Claim, rejoinders, affidavits, written submissions, and counterclaims.
- Attend arbitration hearings, legal meetings, and strategy discussions as required.
- Support management in negotiation, mediation, and settlement of disputes.
5. Advisory, Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key contractual advisor to senior management, regional directors, and project teams.
- Establish contract governance standards, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
- Conduct contractual reviews, audits, and knowledgesharing sessions to improve capability.
- Ensure consistent application of policies and contractual processes across regions.
