Role Summary
The Technical Designer Eyewear will be responsible for executing upstream technical design activities and creating accurate CAD-based inputs for the NPD team. The role ensures timely product launches by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and developing high-quality technical outputs for prototypes, new concepts, and bulk production.

Job Requirements
Education:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
Experience:
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in technical design, product development, or eyewear category

1. Technical Design Process Development
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end collection development from a technical perspective
- Conduct frequent discussions with NPD, D&D & R&D to understand costing, feasibility, and standards

- Simplified inputs for NPD

2. Technical Design Product Development
Key Responsibilities
- Develop virtual 3D models using tools like Creo; iterate for best aesthetics
- Apply creative problem-solving to design challenges
- Research user needs and product use cases
- Sketch ideas for new mechanisms and components
- Study materials and production cost to determine manufacturability
- Collaborate with NPD and specialists for feasibility and cost alignment
- Evaluate design practicality: safety, appearance, function
- Present prototypes to stakeholders for feedback & approval
- Co-create new inventions with designers
- Maintain flexibility and adapt designs based on feedback
- Introduce process improvements to simplify workflows
- Offer multiple options to enhance aesthetics while ensuring manufacturability
- Ensure strong technical understanding of movement drawings and adopt required features
- Close feedback loops post-prototype with all stakeholders
- Manage design revisions post-proto feedback
- Handle special projects with tight timelines
- Convert concept sketches to 3D models in Creo with minimal iterations
- Support NPD team to create prototypes aligned with design intent and quality expectations

3. Technical Design DEC Lab & Other Activities
Key Responsibilities
- Efficient use of DEC Lab machinery (Lathe, CNC milling, Laser Machine, etc.)

- In-house prototypes developed via DEC Lab

- Number of projects developed with stakeholders
- Introduction of new materials into product lines
