Job Description
Job Summary:
A GCP/AWS Architect is responsible for designing, planning, and implementing robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions mostly on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and secondarily Amazon Web Service (AWS). Their responsibilities include translating business needs into technical requirements, selecting appropriate GCP/AWS services, overseeing the deployment of cloud infrastructure, and ensuring the solutions meet security and compliance standards. They also play a key role in guiding teams on cloud best practices, optimizing performance and cost, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Design and Planning: GCP/AWS Architects design cloud solutions by translating business requirements into technical specifications, selecting suitable GCP/AWS services, and creating architectural blueprints.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: They manage and provision cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and security components, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Security and Compliance: A critical aspect of their role is ensuring that all cloud solutions adhere to security best practices and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Performance Optimization: GCP/AWS Architects monitor cloud infrastructure performance, identify areas for optimization, and implement strategies to improve cost-efficiency and resource utilization.
- Cloud Migration: They guide and lead cloud migration projects, helping organizations transition from on-premises or other cloud environments to GCP/AWS.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration: GCP/AWS Architects work closely with various teams, including development, operations, and security, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
- Troubleshooting and Support: They respond to technical issues related to cloud infrastructure and services, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Cost Management: Monitoring cloud spending, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing strategies to optimize cloud resource usage.
- Cloud Migration & Modernization: Lead the planning and execution of complex cloud migration projects from on-premises or other cloud environments to GCP/AWS.
- Optimization & Governance:
- Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost efficiency, and security across both GCP/AWS.
- Implement cost management and optimization strategies, identifying opportunities to reduce cloud spend without compromising performance or reliability.
- Establish and enforce cloud governance policies, standards, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in IT, with at least 5+ years in a dedicated Solution Architect role designing and implementing cloud solutions.
- Deep hands-on expertise in both Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Service (AWS) with a strong understanding of their core services, architectural patterns, and best practices.
- Certifications: Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect (highly preferred) or Associate Cloud Engineer (required)
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and/or Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
- Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms (GKE, EKS).
- Experience with serverless computing (Google Cloud Functions, Cloud Run).
- Expertise in cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), data encryption, and compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, Google Cloud Build).
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Node.js).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical solutions to executive leadership, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
