Job Description: Senior Java Backend Developer Payments (Interchange)
Employment Type: Full-time
Location: Hyderabad, India (Hybrid) | Non-Hyderabad, India locations (Remote)
Experience: 7-12+ years (flexible based on fit)
Role Summary
We are hiring Senior Java Backend Developers with strong expertise in building scalable, fault-tolerant systems for the payments domain, specifically within the Interchange area. The ideal candidate has proven experience designing and delivering microservices-based platforms, working with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, and exposure to Microsoft Azure cloud services in production-grade environments. Candidates with experience on Fiserv VisionNext (or similar modern card management platforms) are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support Java-based backend services for payments systems focused on Interchange processing.
- Build highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant services using microservices architecture (API-first, event-driven where applicable).
- Develop and optimize persistence layers using PostgreSQL and MongoDB; ensure performance, data integrity, and resiliency.
- Implement integrations across the interchange ecosystem including clearing, settlement, and reconciliation touchpoints.
- Participate in architecture/design reviews; drive best practices in reliability, observability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with QA, DevOps, product, and architecture teams to deliver high-quality releases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; perform RCA and implement preventive improvements.
- Work effectively with co-located teams and within onsite/offshore delivery models.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience building scalable and fault-tolerant Java backend systems (high-throughput, low-latency preferred).
- Solid experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Strong database skills with PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure cloud (deployments, managed services, monitoring/operations).
- Strong understanding of payments domain, specifically Interchange.
- Good understanding of card schemes (Visa/Mastercard) clearing, settlement, and reconciliation processes.
- Experience working with co-located teams and in onsite/offshore environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Fiserv VisionNext platform or similar new-age card management systems (strong plus).
- Event-driven/messaging experience (Kafka/queues) and idempotent processing patterns.
- Observability tooling experience (logging/metrics/tracing) and reliability best practices.
- CI/CD and automated testing practices for microservices.
- Candidates who have less than 30 days notice period will be preferred
