Job Description:
A middle-level software asset management (SAM) professional is responsible for managing and optimizing the software assets within an organization. They ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and effectively utilize software resources to maximize productivity and cost savings.
Key responsibilities:
1. Monitor and manage software license agreements, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions. Coordinate with software vendors to procure licenses, track usage, and assess license requirements.
2. Analyze software usage data to identify opportunities for license optimization, such as reclaiming unused licenses or implementing license pooling strategies. Conduct internal audits and assessments to ensure license compliance.
3. Develop and implement software asset management policies and procedures to ensure consistent practices across the organization.
4. Identify opportunities to reduce software costs and optimize license, build, and maintain relationships with software vendors, to stay updated on product releases, licensing models, and pricing options.
5. Experience of providing recommendations on how to license, reconcile and re-harvest license entitlements to the client.
6. Experience of handling minimum of 3 Tier -1 and Tier -2 publishers and specifically IBM, VMware, SAP, Microsoft, Oracle. Redhat and Engineering & SAAS applications
7. Experience in Monitoring, managing, and reporting of license compliance.
Required skills and qualifications:
- ITIL V3 or 4 certified
- CSAM is good to have.
- SAM Tool Operational or Implementation certification +
- Any SAM tool Architectural knowledge
- Audit readiness skillset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate complex licensing terms to various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
