Job Description
Role Summary:
We are looking to onboard immediate joiners for a contractual Magento Backend Engineer role. The position demands strong hands-on expertise in Magento 2 and PHP core, with the ability to take ownership of backend development, integrations, and performance optimization in a high-transaction eCommerce environment.
This is a delivery-critical role requiring candidates who can start immediately or within a very short notice period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize Magento 2 backend modules and extensions
- Work extensively on PHP core development using OOP, namespaces, and design patterns
- Build and customize Magento 2 APIs (REST & GraphQL)
- Handle checkout, payment, and order lifecycle customizations
- Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability
- Debug complex production issues related to integrations and data flow
- Collaborate with product, DevOps, and engineering teams for rapid delivery
Mandatory Skills (Must Have)
- Strong expertise in Magento 2 backend development
- Expert-level PHP core programming (OOP, design patterns, clean code)
- Experience with custom module development, plugins, observers, and events
- Solid understanding of Magento architecture and service contracts
- Hands-on experience with REST & GraphQL APIs
- Strong skills in MySQL / MariaDB
Good to Have
- Experience with WooCommerce or WordPress plugin development
- Familiarity with checkout, payment gateway, and order management systems
- Exposure to high-scale eCommerce or D2C platforms
- Experience with performance tuning and caching mechanisms
Candidate Profile
- Available to join immediately or within 15 days
- Comfortable working in a contractual, fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
