Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled, near expert-level Infrastructure Engineer to join our Managed Service Provider (MSP) support team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, deployment, management, and troubleshooting of physical server infrastructureprimarily Dell and HPE serversacross multiple customer environments. The role also requires deep expertise in storage solutions from various vendors, hybrid Active Directory environments, and strong experience with cloud integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain physical server environments (Dell and HPE) for MSP customers.
- Perform installation, configuration, and ongoing management of enterprise storage solutions from multiple vendors (e.g., Dell EMC, HPE, NetApp, Pure Storage, etc.).
- Manage, troubleshoot, and optimize hybrid Active Directory environments (on-premises and Azure AD synchronization).
- Lead hardware refreshes, server migrations, and data center projects as required by customer engagements.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for server, storage, and directory services issues.
- Ensure the security, stability, and optimal performance of the infrastructure.
- Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure designs, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cloud engineers to ensure seamless integration of on-premises infrastructure with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.).
- Work directly with customer stakeholders to gather requirements, deliver solutions, and provide technical leadership.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide escalation support for critical incidents.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 7+ years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role within an MSP or enterprise environment.
- Near expert-level knowledge of Dell and HPE server hardware: installation, configuration, firmware management, and performance tuning.
- In-depth experience with enterprise storage systems from multiple vendors.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Active Directory, including hybrid configurations with Azure Active Directory.
- Proficiency with server virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.) and related best practices.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and security best practices.
- Experience with backup/recovery solutions and disaster recovery planning. Excellent documentation, communication, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Dell EMC Proven Professional, HPE ASE, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware VCP, etc.).
- Experience working in regulated environments (PCI, HIPAA, etc.).
- ITIL Foundation certification.
