Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance Business Analyst. It covers the standard requirements for Policy, Claims, and Billing domains.

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with deep domain knowledge in Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance. The ideal candidate will act as the vital link between our business stakeholders (Underwriting, Claims, Billing) and our technical teams. You will be responsible for eliciting requirements, analyzing business processes, and ensuring our insurance core systems meet market demands and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirement Elicitation & Analysis
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Underwriters, and Claims Adjusters to gather functional and non-functional requirements.
- Translate complex insurance rules (e.g., rating algorithms, underwriting guidelines, state-specific compliance) into clear User Stories and Acceptance Criteria.
- Create detailed documentation including Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Specification Documents (FSD), and visual process flows.
2. Policy & Claims Management
- Analyse and map workflows for the full policy lifecycle: Quote, Bind, Endorsements, Renewals, and Cancellations.
- Define requirements for claims processing, from First Notice of Loss (FNOL) to Settlement and Recovery.
- Configure business rules for specific Lines of Business (e.g., Commercial Auto, Workers' Comp, General Liability, or Personal Home/Auto).
3. System Implementation & Testing
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) during the implementation of core insurance platforms (e.g., [Guidewire / Duck Creek / Majesco]).
- Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by creating test plans, reviewing test cases, and triaging defects with the QA team.
- Perform gap analysis between "out-of-the-box" software features and specific business needs.
4. Data & Compliance
- Analyse insurance data trends to support rating changes and product development.
- Ensure all system changes adhere to state-specific insurance regulations (e.g., ISO updates, NCCI mandates).
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience as a Business Analyst specifically in the P&C Insurance industry.
- Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of the P&C value chain (Product Definition, Rating, Underwriting, Claims, Billing).
- Technical Proficiency:
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies (using JIRA, Azure DevOps, or Confluence).
- Proficiency in Office tools, SQL for data querying and analysis.
- Ability to create process maps using Visio, LucidChart, or BPMN standards.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with Guidewire (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter), Duck Creek, Majesco or Insurity.
- ACORD data model
- Certifications:
- Insurance: CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), AINS.
- Analysis: CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), PMI-PBA.
Competencies
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to deconstruct complex regulatory rules into logical system requirements.
- Communication: capable of bridging the gap between technical terminology and insurance jargon.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience managing expectations across diverse groups (e.g., Actuaries vs. Developers).
