Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. What youll do:
As a Senior Software Engineer on Walmart s Logging Platform team, you will play a key role in developing and deploying machine learning solutions to analyze and optimize Walmart s large-scale log data. You will collaborate with engineers and data scientists to build intelligent systems for log analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive monitoring, directly supporting Walmart s operational excellence and digital transformation
- Design and build high-performance backend services and APIs using Java (or Golang/Rust ) in a cloud-native, microservices environment.
- Own services end-to-end : architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational excellence (SLOs, reliability, scalability).
- Instrument and monitor systems using OpenTelemetry , Prometheus , and Grafana to drive observability, performance tuning, and incident reduction.
- Communicate clearly explain complex technical trade-offs and designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What Youll Bring
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 6+ years of industry experience in software engineering preferably in large-scale, distributed systems.
- Design and build high-performance backend services and APIs using Java (or Golang/Rust) in a cloud-native, microservices environment.
- Own services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational excellence (SLOs, reliability, scalability).
- Instrument and monitor systems using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus , and Grafana to drive observability, performance tuning, and incident reduction.
- Communicate clearly explain complex technical trade-offs and designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across engineering, data science, and business teams.
- Deep technical expertise in engineering and software development.
- A proactive, ownership-driven approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
- Ability to interpret data and trends, diagnose complex issues, and formulate effective action plans.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor others and foster a collaborative team culture.
- Passion for innovation and continuous learning in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
