Job Description
- Cost Center Accounting: Tracks costs within specific departments or functions (e.g., marketing, IT).
- Profit Center Accounting (PCA): Analyzes profitability by market segment, product, or other business areas.
- Internal Orders: Manages costs for specific jobs, projects, or events.
- Product Cost Controlling: Calculates and analyzes the cost of producing goods or services.
- Profitability Analysis (CO-PA): Analyzes revenues and costs to understand profit by market segment, product, or customer.
- Overhead Management: Manages indirect costs through allocation and distribution.
How it Works with SAP FI:
- Integration: CO is tightly integrated with SAP FI (Financial Accounting).
- Data Flow: Financial postings in FI (like expenses) flow into CO for detailed internal analysis, while CO data can feed back into FI for consolidated reporting.
- Internal vs. External: FI serves external reporting (balance sheets, P&L) for investors/authorities, while CO serves internal management for operational control and strategic planning
