Job Description

Job Summary

As a Kubernetes Platform Engineer you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for developing maintaining and supporting a robust Kubernetes-based platform that powers application development across the organization. This role focuses on enhancing developer experience by building and managing components that simplify and streamline Kubernetes usage.

Responsibilities

Platform Development & Maintenance: Design implement and maintain features and components that sit atop Kubernetes aimed at improving developer productivity and simplifying application deployment.

Component Management: Support and manage core Kubernetes components and add-ons such as External DNS nginx-ingress Kyverno Cilium cert-manager secret manager metrics and observability tools and policy enforcement mechanisms.

Third-Party Integrations: Ensure seamless integration of third-party tools and operators (e.g. OLM) into the Kubernetes ecosystem.

Developer Support: Provide guidance and support to developers through RocketChat Teams email open office hours and documentation to help them leverage platform capabilities effectively.

Security & Compliance: Ensure all components are securely deployed and compliant with organizational policies.

Operational Excellence: Participate in incident management platform alerting and on-call rotations to maintain platform reliability and performance.

Registry Management: Administer Harbor the trusted container image registry ensuring secure and efficient image storage and retrieval.

User Experience: Focus on developer simplicity and usability ensuring that platform features are intuitive and well-integrated.

Qualifications

Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.

Familiarity with tools like External DNS nginx-ingress Kyverno Cilium cert-manager and monitoring/logging stacks.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines container registries (e.g. Harbor) and cloud-native technologies.

Excellent troubleshooting communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
