Senior Kubernetes Engineer (Preferred Azure & Advantage to have Multicloud background) - 5 to 6 Yrs
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Kubernetes Engineer to join our Azure Cloud/Multicloud delivery team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters (primarily AKS), driving automation across pipelines, and ensuring high availability and resilience of containerized workloads. This role requires strong technical expertise, problemsolving skills, and the ability to lead incident resolution while collaborating effectively with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Cluster Management & Deployment
- Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters across Azure (AKS) and multicloud environments.
- Implement best practices for scalability, security, and performance.
- Automation & DevOps
- Build and maintain Azure DevOps templates and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
- Drive automation initiatives to streamline cluster operations and application delivery.
- Service Reliability & Incident Management
- Troubleshoot containers, pods, and clusterlevel issues with deep technical expertise.
- Lead Sev1 incident resolution, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
- Ensure business continuity by proactively monitoring and optimizing workloads.
- Collaboration & Agile Delivery
- Work on user stories and projects within Agile frameworks.
- Create and refine user stories for the team, ensuring clarity and alignment with business goals.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including developers, architects, and service delivery managers.
- Knowledge Sharing & Communication
- Document processes, solutions, and lessons learned for knowledge retention.
- Act as a mentor to junior engineers, guiding them on Kubernetes and DevOps practices.
- Communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
Required Skills & Experience
- Primary Skills:
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Technical Experience:
- Azure DevOps templates and pipeline automation.
- Service mesh technologies such as Istio.
- Cluster management, deployment, and scaling.
- Troubleshooting containers, pods, and networking issues.
- Incident Management:
- Proven ability to lead Sev1 incidents and drive root cause analysis.
- Agile Practices:
- Experience working with user stories, project delivery, and backlog management.
- Ability to create user stories for team execution.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problemsolving mindset and ability to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multicloud Kubernetes deployments (Azure AKS, GCP GKE).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Grafana, Azure Monitor).
- Knowledge of container security practices and compliance frameworks.
- Handson experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates).
