Power BI AdminExperience Required: 4-6+ years in BI/Analytics (2+ in Power BI Administration)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Power BI Administrator to manage and optimize our Power BI environment. This role is responsible for governance, user access, performance tuning, workspace management, and ensuring the overall reliability and scalability of our enterprise reporting platform. The ideal candidate will work closely with BI developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant use of Power BI across the organization.
- Administration & Governance
- Manage Power BI tenant, capacity, workspaces, datasets, and gateways.
- Define and enforce governance policies (naming conventions, usage guidelines, security standards).
- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and manage user/group permissions.
- Performance & Optimization
- Monitor dataset refreshes, optimize query performance, and troubleshoot issues.
- Manage dataflows, scheduled refreshes, and premium capacity utilization.
- Track adoption, usage metrics, and license consumption.
- Support & Operations
- Provide L2/L3 support for Power BI-related incidents and service requests.
- Collaborate with data engineers on gateway and connectivity management.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (eg, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate new Power BI features and recommend adoption strategies.
- Develop best practices documentation and train end users/developers.
- Work with cloud teams (Azure/GCP) to integrate Power BI with broader data platforms.
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 4+ years in BI/Analytics with at least 2 years in Power BI administration .
- Strong knowledge of Power BI Service, Power BI Desktop, and Power BI Report Server.
- Experience with Power BI Premium capacity management and monitoring.
- Proficiency in SQL and understanding of data modeling principles.
- Hands-on with gateways (on-premises & VNet) and cloud data connectivity.
- Familiarity with Active Directory/Azure AD security models .
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience with Azure Data Services (ADF, Synapse, Data Lake).
- Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python) for automation.
- Exposure to enterprise BI platforms (Tableau, Qlik, etc).
- Understanding of data governance, compliance, and healthcare/finance domain standards.
