Job Description
Job Title: Technical Lead DAM Migration (AEM Assets), 10+ years of experience
Role OverviewThe Technical Lead will serve as the primary architect and engineering authority for the migration from Brandfolder to AEM Assets (Cloud Service). You will be responsible for the technical design of the metadata schema, the development of ingestion scripts, and the integration of the DAM into the wider enterprise tech stack. You will lead a team of developers and work closely with the Program Manager to ensure a high-performance, scalable solution.
Key Technical Responsibilities
- Migration Architecture: Design and execute the technical strategy for moving high volumes of assets (TB+) from Brandfolder to AEM, ensuring zero data loss and maintaining asset relationships.
- Schema & Taxonomy Mapping: Lead the technical translation of Brandfolders "Collections" and "Labels" into AEMs Metadata Schemas, Processing Profiles, and Namespaces.
- Workflow Engineering: Build and customize AEM Workflows for asset ingestion, automated tagging (using Adobe Sensei AI), and approval states to match business requirements.
- API & Integration Leadership: Develop and manage integrations between AEM Assets and downstream systems (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud via Asset Link, AEM Sites, PIM, or social media connectors).
- Performance Optimization: Conduct load testing and tune the DAM for high-concurrency environments, ensuring fast search retrieval and smooth ingestion speeds.
- Code Quality & Governance: Oversee the CI/CD pipeline (Adobe Cloud Manager), conduct code reviews, and enforce Adobe "Best Practices" to ensure a "clean" upgrade path.
- Technical Problem Solving: Act as the Tier-3 escalation point for complex technical hurdles, such as binary corruption, API rate-limiting, or custom rendition issues.
Required Technical Skills
- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Deep-Dive: 5+ years of hands-on experience with AEM Assets. Must understand OSGi, Apache Sling, JCR (Jackrabbit Oak), and Sightly/HTL.
- Data Ingestion Tools: Proficiency with AEM migration tools (e.g., AEM Ingestor, MCP, or custom Sling Servlets) and ETL processes.
- Java & Backend Expertise: Strong Java/J2EE background with experience building scalable, multithreaded back-end services.
- Cloud Architecture: Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) and managing deployments via Adobe Cloud Manager.
- Front-end Basics: Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/React to help customize the DAMs user interface where necessary.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Technical Mentorship: Ability to guide junior developers and offshore teams through complex implementation tasks.
- Architectural Communication: Capable of explaining complex JCR structures or API limitations to the Program Manager and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strategic Decision Making: Ability to weigh "Out-of-the-Box" (OOTB) functionality against the need for custom development to ensure long-term maintainability.
Evaluation Checklist for the Tech Lead
- AEM Certification: Certified AEM Architect or Lead Developer.
- Migration Experience: Has successfully completed at least one large-scale DAM-to-DAM migration.
- Ecosystem Knowledge: Understands how Assets interact with Workfront and Creative Cloud.
