Job Description
Role & responsibilities
- Assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for surgical and outpatient SDS cases based on operative reports and clinical documentation.
- Validate coding for surgical procedures, modifiers, and anesthesia codes as per official guidelines.
- Review operative notes and query surgeons for clarification when documentation is incomplete or ambiguous.
- Ensure compliance with payer-specific requirements, regulatory standards (HIPAA), and official coding guidelines.
- Maintain coding accuracy and productivity benchmarks set by the organization.
- Participate in coding audits and implement corrective actions to improve quality.
- Stay updated with changes in CPT, ICD-10-CM, and SDS coding guidelines through continuous learning.
- Collaborate with surgeons, billing teams, and auditors to resolve coding-related issues.
Preferred candidate profile
- 1+ yrs of experience in SDS medical coding.
- Certification: Any certification preferred.
- Location: Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Trichy.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and surgical coding guidelines.
- Familiarity with outpatient SDS coding and hospital billing processes.
- Good understanding of surgical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in coding software and hospital information systems.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
