Role: Presales GCP Data Cloud Solution Architect (with Data Warehousing Experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time Professional
Summary:
Onix is seeking an experienced presales GCP Data Cloud Solution Architect with a strong background in data warehousing and cloud platforms to play a pivotal role in the presales lifecycle and solution design process. This position is key to architecting scalable, secure, and cost-efficient data solutions that align with client business objectives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data architecture, modelling, and cloud data platforms such as AWS and GCP, combined with the ability to lead and influence during the presales engagement phase.
Scope / Level of Decision Making:
This is an exempt position operating under limited supervision, with a high degree of autonomy in presales technical solutioning, client engagement, and proposal development. Complex decisions are escalated to the manager as necessary.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data modelling, and enterprise data management, with a strong focus on cloud-native and hybrid data solutions.
- Proven hands-on expertise in solution design, leveraging both free and commercial tools to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective GCP Data Cloud solutions.
- Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, and Looker; additional exposure to AWS is a plus.
- Strong background in data warehousing modernisation, including migration from legacy platforms (e.g., Teradata, Oracle, Netezza) to BigQuery or other GCP-native solutions.
- Proficient in SQL and Python and familiar with languages such as Java and Scala for data engineering and pipeline orchestration.
- Expertise in designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines, leveraging CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and automated deployment tools (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Build, GitLab CI).
- Solid understanding of data governance, security best practices, access controls, and regulatory compliance in cloud-based environments.
- Extensive pre-sales experience, including solutioning, effort estimation, client workshops, and technical presentations for C-level executives and key stakeholders.
- Outstanding presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to bridge business needs and technical execution.
- Demonstrated ability to lead proof-of-concept (PoC) projects, respond to RFPs/RFIs, and create compelling solution architectures that align with client goals.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, matrixed environments, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines with precision.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience required).
Travel Expectation:
Up to 15% for client engagements and technical workshops.
