Job Description
THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master with a strong technical foundation to work with our client to lead agile practices for their software development teams. This position is ideal for a former developer, technical lead, or development manager who has transitioned into agile coaching and wants to leverage their technical expertise in a financial services environment.
Company Context
Our client operates a 24/7 precious metals trading platform serving institutional clients and requires seamless coordination between development, operations, and business teams to maintain platform reliability and deliver continuous improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Agile Leadership
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, sprint reviews) for multiple cross-functional teams
- Coach teams and stakeholders on agile principles and practices, driving continuous improvement in team maturity
- Remove impediments and shield teams from external distractions to maintain focus and productivity
- Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and accountability across development teams
- Technical Program Management
- Guide teams through complex technical initiatives including cloud migrations, API modernization, and system integrations
- Translate technical concepts for business stakeholders and business requirements for technical teams
- Monitor and report on team velocity, sprint burndown, and delivery metrics using Azure DevOps analytics
- Identify process bottlenecks in CI/CD pipelines and work with teams to optimize deployment workflows
- Cross-Team Coordination
- Coordinate dependencies between multiple development teams, including offshore contractors
- Facilitate technical discussions and architecture decisions when teams face blockers
- Partner with Product Owners to maintain well-groomed backlogs with clear technical acceptance criteria
- Work with DevOps engineers to ensure smooth deployment processes and infrastructure provisioning
- Risk Management
- Identify technical and process risks early and escalate appropriately
- Ensure compliance with financial services regulations and security requirements
- Support incident response coordination for production issues in a 24/7 trading environment
Required Qualifications
- Scrum Master Experience
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent certification (PSM, SAFe SM)
- 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach
- Proven track record of successfully leading agile teams through complex technical projects
- Technical Background
- 5+ years of prior experience as a software developer, technical lead, or development manager
- Hands-on development experience with .NET Framework/.NET Core and C#
- Practical experience building applications with React JS and React Native
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, architecture patterns, and technical debt management
- Financial Services Experience
- 2+ years working in financial services, fintech, or trading platform environments
- Understanding of financial services compliance, security requirements, and regulatory considerations
- Experience with high-availability systems and 24/7 operational requirements
- DevOps & Cloud
- Advanced proficiency with Azure DevOps (Boards, Repos, Pipelines, Test Plans)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies
- Working knowledge of Azure Cloud services and infrastructure
- Familiarity with GitHub workflows and repository management
- Understanding of branching strategies, pull request processes, and code review practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Scrum Master certifications (A-CSM, PSM II, or SAFe Program Consultant)
- Experience with scaling frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, or Nexus)
- Background managing distributed or offshore development teams
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and quality assurance processes
- Knowledge of API design, microservices architecture, and cloud-native development
- Familiarity with monitoring tools, APM solutions, and incident management
- Experience with integration testing platforms (Playwright, Selenium, etc.)
- Understanding of financial instruments, trading systems, or payment processing
Technical Environment
You'll be working with teams using:
- Languages & Frameworks: .NET 8, C#, React JS, React Native, TypeScript
- Cloud: Microsoft Azure (App Services, Azure SQL, Azure Functions, Key Vault)
- DevOps Tools: Azure DevOps, GitHub, Azure Pipelines, ARM/Bicep templates
- Development Tools: Visual Studio, VS Code, Android Studio
- Methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, continuous integration/continuous deployment
- Collaboration: Slack/Teams, Confluence, Swagger/OpenAPI
