About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (SDE 2/3)+ Instructor with strong System Design expertise who is passionate about building robust backend systems and mentoring the next generation of engineers. This role combines hands-on backend development with teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship.
This is a full-time on-site academic position at Newton School of Technology / Rishihood University, Sonipat.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Backend Engineering courses to B.Tech Computer Science students, including: Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs, and Database Systems (SQL/NoSQL).
- Deliver structured lectures, tutorials, hands-on labs, and project-based assessments.
- Teach and guide students in High-Level and Low-Level System Design concepts and scalable architecture fundamentals.
- Mentor students through capstone projects, debugging practices, architectural reasoning, and technical reviews.
- Lead and coordinate an academic team responsible for labs, tutorials, grading, and student support.
- Design, update, and maintain academic course materials, project frameworks, assignments, and evaluation rubrics aligned with program learning outcomes.
- Ensure academic quality, student progress tracking, and adherence to academic standards.
- Collaborate with internal academic leadership and external experts to continuously enhance course effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
- 510 years of professional experience in Backend Software Engineering (SDE2/3 or equivalent).
- Proficiency in Node.js, Express.js, Database Systems, and REST-based backend architecture.
- Strong understanding of System Design, scalability patterns, distributed systems, and performance optimization.
- Excellent communication and instruction skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Experience mentoring teams, guiding junior developers, or leading technical discussions.
Good to have:
- Prior experience teaching at the undergraduate level or involvement in academic training programs.
- Contributions to open-source projects or community initiatives in the SRE/DevOps domain.
- Familiarity with Python or Java.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and CI/CD workflows.
- Demonstrated involvement in curriculum development, academic planning, or educational research.
- Expertise in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
- Experience with IaC and configuration management tools.
