Job Description
We are seeking Editorial Assistants for one of the leading journal publishers. This is an exciting opportunity for postgraduates to start their career in scholarly publishing. You will be joining a truly global, friendly, and intelligent team offering you good growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- The Editorial Assistant will be part of our editorial support teams with the primary responsibility of managing a set of journals.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the journals through collaboration with editors and publisher staff.
- Guide manuscripts through an online platform from initial submission through to final editorial decision.
- Perform technical and administrative checks on manuscripts for compliance with the journals standard after submission, revision, and acceptance.
- Manage high volume of internal and external e-mail correspondence, providing exceptional customer service to authors, reviewers, and staff.
- Monitor the peer review process with a goal of timely completion of tasks by various stakeholders.
- Prepare accurate, regular status reports to provide performance overview for key stakeholders
Qualification and Prerequisites
- Graduate or Postgraduate in Science
- Excellent communication (particularly in English)
Required Skills
- Digital literacy: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook and Excel
- Candidate must be a team player but be able to work on their own initiative and with minimal supervision
- Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Possess an enthusiastic attitude, great analytical skill and the ability to pay close attention to detail
Desired Skills
- Prior experience in laboratory-based or desk-based research
Research publications: at least one scholarly article publication is desirable - Prior knowledge/experience in handling online manuscript submission and peer review management systems
- Ability to deal with challenging problems and proactively identifying additional customer support opportunities
