Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Azure Data Architect with over 12 years of IT experience and a strong background in designing and implementing large-scale Azure data platforms. This role demands deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead enterprise-grade data initiatives across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable data solutions using Azure services: Data Factory, Data Lake Gen2, Azure SQL, Analysis Services, Databricks, and HDInsight.
- Design and develop enterprise frameworks, reusable components, and data models aligned with business requirements and industry standards.
- Lead ETL/ELT development using Spark, Python, and PySpark; optimize performance and ensure data quality.
- Configure and manage Azure Event Hub for real-time streaming data ingestion from IoT devices.
- Evaluate and enhance existing HDInsight ETL pipelines; recommend best practices and improvements.
- Compare and assess ETL tools (e.g., Databricks vs. ADF) for optimal use cases.
- Implement and validate metadata catalog quality using Collibra; enforce data governance policies.
- Conduct data profiling, quality assessments, and certification mechanisms based on business rules.
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters and PMO to plan deliverables, estimate effort, and drive sprint execution.
- Support presales activities including RFP creation, solution presentations, and client workshops.
- Communicate complex data insights clearly and effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Apply machine learning techniques using Azure ML for advanced analytics and predictive modeling.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 12+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in Azure cloud technologies.
- Hands-on expertise in Azure data services: ADF, Data Lake Gen2, Azure SQL, Analysis Services, Databricks, HDInsight.
- Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, and Spark.
- Experience with real-time data streaming and IoT data analysis.
- Proficiency in data modeling, database design, and enterprise architecture patterns.
- Knowledge of data governance tools like Collibra and best practices in metadata management.
- Familiarity with CI/CD automation, accelerators, and reusable components.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with Azure ML and machine learning workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure Solutions Architect or Data Engineer certification.
- Experience in consulting and delivering enterprise data governance frameworks.
- Exposure to hybrid cloud environments and Microsoft ecosystem integration.
