Job Description
Product Manager - Mortgage Loan Origination
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Manager to join our team and play a critical role in building our cutting-edge consumer mortgage loan origination system (LOS). In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and analyzing business requirements, translating them into functional specifications, and collaborating with the development team to deliver a best-in-class solution for our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
- Elicit, analyze, and document detailed business requirements for all aspects of the consumer mortgage loan origination process, including application intake, processing, underwriting, closing, and post-closing.
- Conduct workshops, interviews, and surveys with stakeholders (loan officers, underwriters, processors, borrowers, etc.) to understand their needs and pain points.
- Analyze existing loan origination processes and identify areas for improvement and automation.
- Create process flow diagrams, use case scenarios, and data models to visualize and communicate requirements.
- Mortgage Industry Expertise:
- Develop a deep understanding of the mortgage industry, including regulations, loan products, and industry best practices.
- Stay up to date on regulatory changes (e.g., TRID, HMDA) and their impact on the loan origination process.
- Ensure our LOS complies with all relevant federal and state regulations.
- Product Development and Implementation:
- Collaborate with the product development team to design and implement a user-friendly and efficient LOS.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and other agile ceremonies.
- Assist in the creation of user acceptance testing (UAT) plans and test cases.
- Support the implementation and rollout of new features and enhancements.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, and test cases.
- Clearly communicate requirements and updates to the development team, stakeholders, and clients.
- Create training materials and user guides to support the adoption of the LOS.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience as a Product Manager in the mortgage industry, with a focus on loan origination systems.
- Mortgage Knowledge: Strong understanding of the mortgage loan lifecycle, including loan products, underwriting guidelines, and closing procedures.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum), data analysis techniques, and process mapping tools.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical1 audiences.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with mortgage loan origination software (e.g., Encompass, Calyx Point).
- Knowledge of mortgage compliance regulations (e.g., TRID, HMDA).
- Certification in business analysis (e.g., CBAP) or mortgage lending (e.g., Certified Mortgage Banker).Role & responsibilities
