Job Description
Job Title Live/Full Underwriter (US residential mortgage) - Chennai
Job Description:
3-8 yrs of experience in US residential mortgage, Underwriter industry regulations and procedures.
Income Calculation:
- Analyse borrower income using pay stubs, W-2s, tax returns (1040), and verification of employment
- Calculate income for salaried, hourly, self-employed, commission, bonus, and overtime borrowers
- Perform YTD, average, and trending income calculations
- Review tax schedules (Schedule C, E, K-1) for self-employed income
- Identify income stability, continuity, and red flags as per guidelines
- Ensure compliance with FNMA (Fannie Mae), FHLMC (Freddie Mac), FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines
- Document income calculations clearly for underwriter review
- Maintain quality standards, TAT, and SLA requirements
Loan Application Review:
- Analyse and verify loan applications, ensuring all required documents are complete and accurate.
- Assess the borrower's credit history, employment, income, and debt levels.
- Confirm the property's value through appraisal reports.
Credit and Financial Analysis:
- Evaluate credit reports to determine the borrower's creditworthiness.
- Analyse financial statements, tax returns, pay stubs, and other income documentation.
- Calculate debt-to-income (DTI) ratios and loan-to-value (LTV) ratios. Property Valuation Review:
- Review appraisals and alternative value products for conformity to client-specified requirements to assess the accuracy of the property valuation.
Compliance and Risk Assessment:
- Ensure loans comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Adhere to company policies and guidelines.
- Identify potential risks and assess the overall risk level of the loan.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in using mortgage processing software and financial tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
