Job Description
Key Responsibilities: -
- Strategic Leadership in Procurement
Spearhead end-to-end sourcing of bulk APIs, intermediates, and key raw materials in line with organizational growth objectives.
- Global Vendor Development
Identify, qualify, and onboard top domestic and international suppliers while ensuring strict adherence to GMP, USFDA, EU, and CDSCO compliance.
- High-Impact Negotiations
Lead multimillion-dollar negotiations, structuring contracts and credit terms that deliver competitive advantage and supply chain security.
- Partnerships & Relationship Management
Build long-term, trust-based relationships with leading global API manufacturers to secure preferential supply access and favorable credit cycles.
- Market Intelligence & Risk Mitigation
Monitor global market trends, regulatory shifts, and pricing dynamics to ensure cost optimization, proactive risk management, and dual sourcing strategies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with QA/RA, Production, Finance, and Regulatory teams to align procurement strategies with operational and compliance needs.
- Governance & Documentation
Ensure all required documentation (DMF, CEP, CoA, COPP, stability data) is in place for seamless approvals and global compliance.
- Leadership & Team Development
Mentor and guide a team of procurement professionals, fostering a high-performance culture with a focus on integrity, efficiency, and excellence.
Desired Candidate Profile :-
- Educational Background:
Graduate / Postgraduate in Pharmacy, Chemistry, or Supply Chain Management. MBA or additional qualifications in Strategic Procurement / International Business will be an added advantage.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in API procurement within reputed Indian or multinational pharmaceutical companies.
- Strong track record in domestic and international sourcing of APIs, intermediates, and key raw materials.
- Proven experience in handling large procurement budgets, high-value negotiations, and global supplier contracts.
- Domain Expertise:
- In-depth understanding of GMP, USFDA, EU, CDSCO, and ICH guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of global API markets, credit practices, and supplier ecosystems.
- Familiarity with import/export regulations, customs, trade compliance, and bulk logistics.
- Experience in evaluating DMFs, CoA, CEPs, COPP, and other regulatory documentation.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strategic Negotiation Skills: Ability to lead high-stakes negotiations, delivering cost savings without compromising quality.
- Analytical Acumen: Expertise in landed cost analysis, supplier risk assessment, and market intelligence.
- Technology Orientation: Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle preferred), digital procurement tools, and data-driven decision-making.
- Leadership & People Development: Proven ability to mentor, inspire, and build high-performing procurement teams.
- Collaboration & Influence: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with QA/RA, Finance, Production, and top management.
